| Buddhism: A moral alternative to Christianity |
| I recommend reasoning and logic instead of superstition and beliefs in afterlife etc, but if one is "hell-bent" on believing in superstitions, life after death and in "cosmic" consequences to "on earth" actions, then I recommend Buddhism as a moral alternative to Christianity.
Personally, I think this is the wrong way to go, but many people seem to really NEED a supernatural means of expressing their "spirituality". So be it. Buddhism is a moral system and does not involve ANY blood sacrifices at all, but it does still have it's faults from my perspective. It deems the ego as a hindrance to "higher" understanding for one, and for another there is a sense that unfortunate people "deserve" their plight, or rather than they are in the situation they are in because of past life Karma. That is nothing though compared to "the big three" Abrahamic traditions that are truly evil. As an atheist, obviously I advocate no religion or superstitious beliefs at all, but with some people, telling them not to engage in religion is like telling teenagers to abstain from sex. It just ain't gonna happen. With than in mind, I certainly advocate Buddhism over any of the Western "big three". (In work: more about Buddhism later. It's a fascinating subject.) The Vampire LOGOS |
