But then again, her motives are not on trial, are they? No one's suggesting that Jephthah's daughter is lacking or less than pristine. The question is whether or not her father, as planned and for personal profit, offering her up as a virgin human sacrifice to 'god'-Yahweh is right or wrong, good or evil, correct? We can also imagine that being offered up to a 'god' on an altar in a blood sacrifice ritual is not a pleasant thing. Some would consider it a form of torture. Do you STILL think that the torture and sacrifice of the innocent for your own personal profit is morally bad or evil? |
